The Environmental Chemistry Information System (The ECIS) is an exclusive combination of millions of records providing information on over 697,000 different chemicals in the environment, including: toxicological and/or carcinogenic research data; information on handling hazardous materials; chemical/physical property information; regulations; safety and health effects information; and pharmaceutical data.
ECIS includes a comprehensive collection of 31 databases from various sources like EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), NCI ( National Cancer Institute), NIH (National Institutes of Health), US National Library of Medicine(NLM) and many more. ECIS also includes some databases from NLM's Toxline Special collection with sources and references to literature on the pharmacological, biochemical, physiological, and toxicological effects of drugs, environmental pollutants, and other chemicals.
ECIS also includes a set of site-oriented databases covering hazardous waste sites, EPA - and state-licensed hazardous materials handlers, and EPA legal/regulatory proceedings over environmental protection violations. These databases -- CERCLIS, RCRIS, FINDS, ICIS (DOCKET) -- can be useful in performing due-diligence reviews.
