DATABASE DESCRIPTION :
The Environmental Mutagen Information Center (EMIC) was organized at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 1969. EMIC's mission is to collect, organize, and disseminate information relevant to genetic toxicology. The EMIC database contains records which have been published in more than 3,000 publication sources. The records are gathered from the open literature on mutagenicity testing of chemical agents. The database contains bibliographic details and keywords of chemicals tested, Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Numbers, organisms studied, and assay systems used. Users can search by CAS Registry Number, subject terms, title words, and author. The database includes some records from prior to 1950 (as early as 1909), but the bulk of its coverage begins in the late 1960s.
