TSCATS GREENCARD

(Toxic Substances Control Act Test Submissions)

DATABASE DESCRIPTION :
TSCATS enables users to identify  and obtain copies of  unpublished health and safety studies submitted to the US Environmental Protection Agency under various sections of the Toxic Substances Control Act. It is the most efficient means for determining if EPA has a specific type of study on a particular chemical. The studies fall into three general categories: health effects, environmental effects, and environmental fate. More than 24,000 separate studies are cited in the database.

The data contained in studies cited by TSCATS can be accessed in a variety of ways:

  • Some 10% of TSCATS-cited documents are available online in electronic form in the database itself
  • Some 16% of TSCATS documents include abstracts which summarize the data from a cited study.
  • Some 9% of TSCATS documents are summarized in the RTECS database, which is also a part of CIS (TSCATS documents on CIS contain a reference to RTECS when TSCATS data is available through RTECS.)
  • Lastly, copies of studies may be ordered on microfiche from CIS.
To order a study on microfiche, e-mail sales@nisc.com and include your name, mailing address, and the Fiche No. A bill will be sent with the fiche. A $25.00 charge applies once per order (no matter how many fiche or packets of fiche are included) plus $1.25 per pane of fiche and $1.00 minimum for shipping.
