The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) database is the world's largest collection of records on educational materials, spanning more than a quarter century of federally-supported education resource management. Each year, about 33,000 abstracts are added - on articles from hundreds of education-related journals as well as research papers, dissertations, conference proceedings, literature reviews, reports, syllabi, and curricula. All aspects are covered: childhood through higher education, testing and measurement, adult and workplace literacy, math and science, needs of special populations, and much more. Easy-to-use search-and-retrieval software provides powerful access to beginners, advanced, and professional users alike. Who uses ERIC? ERIC is used by teachers, students, parents, librarians, school boards, administrators, journalists, civil servants, and other professionals in every state and over 100 countries. Documents are acquired on specialized topics by the vast network of ERIC clearinghouses and related service organizations. NISC provides the finishing touches, making this the most convenient and fast ERIC web access available. Special codes and abbreviations are spelled out. All records provide the phone, address, and email information needed to purchase documents or articles on paper or microfiche. Documents available from EDRS even list the exact hard-copy and microfiche price as calculated from the current price schedule. |

Other features include highlighting of search terms in retrieved documents, record tagging for printing, e-mail ordering of selected documents, alternate screen formats for short and long display, and user-friendly help functions. In addition to search features, users can control the interface, output, and LAN performance. While many of
these features are also available from other vendors, the NISC product
provides a comprehensive set of features and is easy to use. It is flexible
enough to meet the needs of end users and experienced searchers." |
