Product Overview
Men's Studies Database (MSD) Complementing NISC’s databases on Women’s Studies and Sexual Diversity Studies, the Men’s Studies Database helps complete the spectrum of gender engaged scholarship inside and outside academia. Multidisciplinary coverage includes empirical and theoretical scholarship encompassing the issues of men's identity and experience. Current as well as historical perspectives focus on methodologies employed in the study of masculinities and perceptions of men as represented in contemporary society.
Database Content
With over 73,640 citations & abstracts, MSD covers 250 core and hundreds more important periodicals providing access to the full diversity of literature including journal articles, book reviews, books, book chapters, theses, dissertations, bulletins, newsletters, internet documents and numerous other sources on men's studies from 1990 to the present. Several thousand links to freely available and indexed full-text articles and documents on the web are now available. Several hundred links provide access to carefully selected and important websites.

  • Many citations include abstracts with links to freely available full text on the internet or linkable access to journal articles through your library's full-text vendor services such as EBSCO, Swets-Blackwell, etc.
  • Full-text search-and-retrieval of over 1,630 valuable electronic documents freely available on the internet; URL links are available to display all documents (thousands more internet documents will be processed over the next couple of years and added to the database on an ongoing basis, URL links are regularly checked to avoid dead-links).
  • Summaries of above 250 quality websites with URL links (several hundred more sites are being evaluated for relevant content).
