Abstract

At the commencement of the 1974/75, 1975/76 and last seasons respectively, it appeared that the campaign of rationalization within the wattle industry had achieved its objective with the result that the total registered area as declared by growers had been stabilized at around 160 000 hectares. The fact that prices of wattle bark and timber respectively were increased substantially and regularly during the previous five years no doubt contributed largely to the stabilization of registered areas which had been decreasing at an average rate of just under four per cent per annum since June, 1971.
