THE USE OF NATURAL REGENERATION IN PLANTATIONS OF PINUS PATULA IN SOUTHERN RHODESIA

Abstract

The author considers that the seeding characteristics of Pinus patula are such that the natural regeneration of this species in plantation work in Southern Rhodesia would be practical, cheap and beneficial. It is considered that natural regeneration offers a promising means of improving local strains of P. patula and that this work can be complementary to other, more elaborate, methods of introducing improved genetic strains.
